The Sounds of the Southwest Singers community choir is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization currently with just under 100 members. The choir was founded in March, 2010 and is self-supporting relying solely on funding from individuals within the community and corporate sponsorship.
They have performed at New York's Lincoln Center and most recently, Carnegie Hall. They have sung their way through Germany and Austria, and have sung on two separate occasions at Disneyland and California Adventures. They also had the honor of performing at Pearl Harbor and aboard the USS Missouri in Hawaii. It was just announced that they were chosen to be a part of a larger ensemble to sing a new Requiem composition to be performed at the Vatican in Rome, Italy this coming October, 2014. Locally, they have been featured during Glendale Glitters and have performed at the Arizona State Fair. They will sing our National Anthem for the fourth time this summer for the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. They have also sung our National Anthem during Spring Training at the Peoria Sports Complex.
They perform a series of themed concerts year-round throughout the metro Phoenix valley in many venues. They sing secular, sacred, patriotic, Broadway, and pop musical genres. Their most popular concert series is their Variety of Sounds concerts which gives their audiences a sampling of their vast musical styles.
Rehearsals are every Tuesday at 7PM located at Foothills Christian Church, 3951 W. Happy Valley Rd. (SWC of 39th Ave. and Happy Valley Rd.)
The choir is open to anyone who loves to sing!

Matt, graduated from Central Washington University with a BA degree in communications and music performance. He has played the timpani/percussion/melodic percussion in multiple orchestral and band settings. He currently plays in the percussion section for the newly organized North Valley Symphony Orchestra, in Phoenix. He also has played the piano/keyboard with various jazz ensembles. His real passion for choral music began in 1994 when he volunteered as his church choir director in Washington State.
He moved his family to Arizona in 1999. In 2002 he led a local Glendale church choir starting with only 15 in its volunteer choir, at the end of his leadership in January, 2010 there were over 65 members. Matt has also played as a church praise team band musician, and worked through a church with a youth community concert band. He also accompanies soloists and musicians on the keyboard.
Matt thrives on pursuing his musical path with the Sounds of the Southwest Singers community choir which serves the Northwest Valley communities. There is a lot of local talent out there who need a venue to musically express themselves.
The choir has had many wonderful opportunities both locally and internationally. The Sounds of the Southwest Singers enjoy working with notable musicians and visiting distinguished locations. Their goal is to continue making a difference musically in their community and wherever their talents take them.
Matt believes music isn't just notes on the page, but one truly experiences it through emotion and feeling from the heart. The group through his direction has brought their own brand of passion to their music. As you watch him direct you can see and feel the passion he brings to the music. The emotional values are evident to the performer and the listener under his direction.
